Glamour FAQ's Answered :
Do I have to take my top off to do Glamour ?
No it’s not essential but it certainly helps. If you are under 5’6 then you may have to though. Some clients look to book glamour girls just because they want more curves. For example many lingerie clients tend to need a fuller bust. Bikinis also look great on glamour girls compared to high end fashion models. However if it is the lads magazines that you are looking to get published in then nowadays it is very hard if you do not do topless, but certainly not impossible. You have to remember that there is much more competition if you are looking to stay within non-topless.
I am 15 can I do topless work for magazines at 16 ?
No you can’t. No editor will publish you until you are 18.
Can I just do lingerie ?
Yes you can but almost certainly you will need to have a natural bust and no tattoos and be 5’6 +
I want to do glamour because the girls I see (Jordan, Jodie Marsh, Danielle Lloyd) are all famous and must be earning lots !
For a novice, ie in the first year, if all goes well you would average between £10,000 - £20,000. If you do topless the earning potential is greater as there are more jobs that you can go up for. But please remember that for every model that earns a great wage there are twenty that are struggling to survive.
I am doing fashion but if I do glamour will that wreck my catwalk chances ?
Catwalk no, TV yes. If you want to be a presenter then do not do topless. If you want to do advertising you can still do both. But there will be times that the client is very brand conscious and so doesn’t want to use a model that has done any topless. But hey, you can have it all!
Do I have to have huge bust to do Glamour
34c tends to be the bench mark to get in to glamour modeling nowadays.
What types of Glamour are there ?
Two types, topless glamour and non topless glamour.
Why do I need an agency can't I manage myself online ?
It is ridiculous to think that you can model successfully without a model agency. And when I say agency I mean a company with desks, telephones, bookers and office space. Not an internet based model agency or any other company that claims to get you work for free. No agency can represent a girl without meeting them. Agencies also make sure you get the correct fee, that you do not get exploited, that you get paid, and that you work in a safe environment. If you are serious about this industry then get serious and find a decent agency. Avoid people that scout you in the street and do not part with any money. There are so many scams out there that there is no way you can navigate this business on your own. Only work with agencies that are on ALBA’s A-List or the AMA. Ask around, check ALBA’s ‘Wall of Shame’ it’s a great starting point to see who and what to avoid. Use your common sense. If it feels wrong it probably is. Do not spend any money !!
On another note : I was rather upset by Gok Wan's dreadful labelling that all Glamour models are cheap and trashy in his ridiculous so called Naked Beauty Pageant - - if any pageant judge on our list went up to a girl and said can I feel your bangers are they real - I would personally string them up - Gay or not !
It appears Gok has forgotten where he came from. Glamour modelling was large source of income for him back in the day.
I use to book him all the time. But hey ho.
