BRITISH PAGEANT ASSOCIATION - ALBA
We recommend fun events that are nothing like the stuff you see on channel 4 and competitions you would be proud to see your teenager enter !
AVOID Shambolic Beauty Pageants
When ALBA started 14 years ago Pageants were going through a hard time and labelled as outdated sexist events by protesting feminist movements. I believe those feminists lad- like behaviour is one reason we now have teenage girls with low self esteem and no self worth….

However, the main pageants retained their position in society, and survived the screams of “sexist and demeaning “ , showing they have a worthy place in society. However in the past 12 months we have noted a large number of new pageants setting up but really trading in a manner that is somewhat a shambles and not good value for money. Since the 1990’s we have held reference to those pageants and competitions we DO recommend, and in October 2009 we decided to expanded our albamodel.info COMPETITIONS page and subsequently with the help of top pageant organiser Angie Beasley we have founded
THE BRITISH PAGEANT ASSOCIATION
British Pageant Association members have traded for a set term, and DO adhere to our code of conduct:
This is to ensure girls avoid these type of nightmare cases:
A) Entry fees being taken up front and then the organisers failing to hold the event,
B) Girls being promised travel to pageants abroad and free accommodation and entry to competition on far shores then left stranded in a foreign country with no return flight.
C) Shambolic events held in bizarre places without proper changing a privacy & contestants having paid a large entry fee and got very little or no prizes at all other than entry to another pageant.
Why we love pageants:
"We repeatedly see images of teenage girls "at risk" or already out of control in documentary TV. These fun competitions give teenagers and young people something to aim for, empowering them and encouraging good health plus healthy social interaction with other teenagers, as well as demanding good moral and family values. Irrespective of race, height size, status or religion, these girls come together in their aim to win and in doing so grow in confidence and self esteem forging new friendships along the way" - Katie Froud ALBA
So make sure the pageants you enter ARE alba recommended before you part with ANY fee.
Each listed pageant has a proven track record for making sure contestants are well looked after at the event, judges have a strict code of conduct and the winners get their prizes !
Rogue Modelling Competitions
We have had instances where entrants both male and female must have photographs taken in order to join a model competition and then are pushed into paying out large sums for pictures that are not of any use – invariably it is a “MODEL” competition being run by the photography company that is pushing entrants to buy the pictures or they do not go through.
So DO Not fall for it – see the albamodel.info web site for all competition and pageants that we DO recommend as they are run well and winners do get their prizes !
