Since 1995, Alba has pioneered to improve standards within the modelling industry and we will only promote Modelling Competitions that meet out strict requirements and that we have clear knowledge that they are run to a very high standard.
Our aim is to give those that wish to enter Model Competitions, guidance on those which have a proven track record so they can make an informed choice about the contests they may wish to enter.
Model Competitions will require contestants to be sponsored to enter or will charge an entry fee, this is perfectly acceptable and ALBA are happy with this.
What is the difference between Modelling competitions & Beauty pageants –
Model Competitions are judged solely on model potential, in the same way a model agency would select you.
Beauty Pageants are a bit like a hobby – you either love them or you hate them. It is very much different to a modelling competition as teenage girls and ladies that enter may not even want to go into modelling. Pageants are more of a event, but are still very competitive as prizes usually include cash, clothing, plus a crown, sash and a title to keep for a whole year.
Judging of Pageants often includes the number of appearances made prior to the final, money raised for charity and the Interview at the final.
As none of the categories have any relevance to the Modelling Industry, ALBA do NOT currently recommend any Pageants.
However, we do congratulate all Pageant girls on their worthwhile charity fundraising.
